A pregnancy massage is a wonderful way of pampering the mother-to-be. The massage is done side-lying. The woman is positioned on her left and right side only, supported by pillows under and or between her legs, and beyond her back. The common complaint for pregnant woman is low back pain, upper back and neck. The webs between the fingers are never massaged especially the thumb as well as points along the leg because it will cause contractions. These are acupressure (acupuncture points). This massage is safe and can be performed any time during the pregnancy. The belly is never touched unless the mother-to-be gives approval. The belly massage is a feather like circular movement performed in a clockwise motion.
